Restore the global Bitcoin Cash meet-up network

Phase 1: prepare a global BCH community and potential-organizer map, practical resources from current BCH groups, merchandise and shipping options, and a shared support and operating plan to restore regular local meet-ups. Future leadership, event funding and organizer reimbursements remain to be determined.

Context and evidence

Bitcoin Cash needs a functioning global meet-up network again. The proposer identifies the meet-up scene as needing restoration and wants to establish the practical foundation for people to launch and sustain local BCH gatherings.

Current BCH communities, local advocates and groups that have already produced useful event and adoption materials are the starting point. Identify willing organizers and reuse relevant work from those groups. The map should show verified community contacts, potential organizers and gaps in coverage; it must not imply that a listed community already runs a regular meet-up.

The intended approach is a repeatable, affordable local meet-up model that can reduce dependence on expensive one-off workshops and programmes. This proposal covers phase 1: preparing that foundation.

Proposed approach and scope

Phase 1 objective

Prepare the community map, organizer resources and operating plan needed to restore a global BCH meet-up network. Keep the work specific to local meet-ups and the support required to make them practical.

Global community and potential-organizer map

Map current BCH communities around the world, including local groups, influential people and credible potential organizers. Record region or city, public contact routes, relevant experience, willingness to organize where confirmed, sources and the date of verification. Identify coverage gaps and unresolved contacts. Distinguish a community contact or potential organizer from a functioning meet-up group.

Resources from current BCH groups

Gather practical materials and experience from current BCH groups that have already done relevant work. Identify what can be reused, adapted or translated, acknowledge its origin and confirm permission where needed. Consolidate useful resources into an accessible shared organizer package, with a plan for keeping it current.

Launching and running meet-ups

Prepare guides for starting a group, finding a suitable venue, promoting events, welcoming newcomers and running useful gatherings. Include simple event formats, presentation and promotion templates, wallet and payment demonstrations, and lightweight event reporting. Make the package usable by local organizers without depending on a travelling workshop team.

Merchandise supply and shipping

Identify sources for BCH merchandise and assess product options, minimum orders, quality, pricing, lead times and international shipping coverage. Compare centralized shipping with regional or local production where practical. Provide realistic cost estimates and identify gaps; this phase does not commit to bulk purchases or a distribution contract.

Shared support and future leadership

Design a shared support arrangement for organizers, such as a clear contact route, an organizer communication space and responsibility for maintaining resources and the map. Identify who could lead and operate the restored network. BCH-1 may help establish the foundation; the future operator is not yet selected and need not be BCH-1.

Prepare an indicative future operating model for modest meet-up support, expense reimbursement and hosting compensation. Consider approximately one meet-up per month for participating groups as a possible future cadence, with costs, evidence requirements and review arrangements to be researched. Recurring events, an ongoing support fund, expense payments and hosting compensation belong to a later operating proposal.

Participation and visible global footprint

Include a simple guide for documenting real gatherings with good photographs, short videos and organizer stories, using material participants agree can be shared. These should make genuine BCH participation visible and help new people discover local groups. The eventual objective is to turn passive interest into sustained participation and committed local contributors.

Phase boundary

Phase 1 delivers the foundation and a recommendation for an operating phase. It does not require launching a funded meet-up pilot or running a recurring global event programme. Research must establish a feasible scope, accountable contributors, reviewer, costs and delivery schedule for this foundation work.

How does this benefit Bitcoin Cash?

Give people a practical route from interest in BCH to recurring local participation. A global community and organizer map, reusable materials, accessible merchandise options and shared support can lower the effort required to launch meet-ups and make local activity easier to sustain.

The intended longer-term benefits are stronger personal connections, more committed BCH participants, an authentic visible global footprint and a more repeatable use of outreach resources. Cost savings and participation growth should be evaluated with evidence rather than assumed.

Expected outcomes and evaluation

Proposed phase 1 outputs are a global community and potential-organizer map with sources and verification dates; a shared organizer kit drawing on current BCH groups' work; documented merchandise and shipping options; and a proposed support, leadership and operating model for a future restoration phase.

Evaluate the foundation by the relevance and accuracy of mapped contacts, transparent coverage gaps, practical usability of the organizer kit, clarity of merchandise costs and shipping coverage, and feasibility of the support and leadership plan. Feedback from current BCH groups and potential organizers should inform the final package.

A later operating phase could evaluate meet-up frequency, repeat attendance, new organizers, continued participation, event costs and authentic photographs and videos. Those future outcomes are not claimed as results already delivered by this foundation proposal.

Open questions and research needs

  • Which current BCH communities, local advocates and potential organizers can form the starting map, and where are the gaps?
  • Which current BCH groups have useful materials and experience to contribute, and what adaptation, translation or permission is needed?
  • Which event formats and launch resources would help new organizers run useful, affordable meet-ups consistently?
  • Which suppliers can provide suitable BCH merchandise, at what cost, quality and delivery time, and to which regions?
  • Should merchandise be shipped centrally, sourced regionally or produced locally?
  • Who could lead the future network, maintain the map and resources, and provide shared organizer support?
  • What would a small future support fund need to cover, and how could event expenses and hosting compensation be assessed and documented?
  • Is approximately one meet-up per month feasible for participating groups in a future operating phase?
  • What simple media and reporting guidance would show genuine participation and support repeat attendance?
  • Who will deliver and accept this phase 1 package, within what scope, budget and timeframe?

Delivery plan

milestones

Driver details: A phase 1 coordinator and contributors are to be identified during research, working with current BCH groups and willing potential organizers. BCH-1 may help establish the foundation, but the future network lead and operator are open and may be another organization or team. No organizer or operator is appointed by this proposal.

Three proposed checkpoints cover the community and organizer map, organizer kit and merchandise options, and operating/support plan. Dates, accountable contributors, acceptance reviewer, phase 1 budget and payment conditions remain to be agreed during research. Delivery acceptance and payments are separate. Monthly meet-ups, an ongoing support fund, expense reimbursement and hosting compensation require a later operating proposal; no event funding or payment amount is approved here.

Community and potential-organizer map

Map current BCH communities, local advocates and potential meet-up organizers worldwide, recording sources, contact verification and coverage gaps.

Delivery criteria: An initial map and directory are available with clear classifications, verification dates, gaps and a documented approach for updates. Community contacts are distinguished from operating meet-up groups.

Organizer kit and merchandise options

Consolidate and adapt useful work from current BCH groups into practical launch and event resources. Assess merchandise supply, pricing and shipping options.

Delivery criteria: A usable organizer package, feedback from relevant groups or potential organizers, source acknowledgements and a documented supplier/shipping comparison are available for review.

Operating and shared support plan

Propose future leadership, map/resource maintenance, organizer support, an indicative recurring-event cost model and a recommendation for the next phase.

Delivery criteria: The proposed operating and support model identifies responsibilities, unresolved leadership, indicative costs and the decisions required for a separate operating proposal, including any future reimbursement or hosting compensation.

Research confirms the delivery plan and costs.
